IMPORTANT TO EXHIBITORS:

1. Proof of liability insurance must accompany each entry form for the animals being shown. Entries will not be processed until this is received and are subject to late entry fees.
2. Entries close on Friday, September 9th, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. Entries will not be taken over the phone.
3. The entry fee is 15% of the prize money awarded.
4. Late entry fee is an additional 5% of the prize money awarded.
5. All exhibits must be weighed at the fair prior to showing. The birth weight, show weight and weight per day of age for all calves and yearlings to be exhibited in individual classes are to be posted.
6. Cattle must not be removed before 4:00 p.m. the day of the show.

STALLS CANNOT BE RESERVED – FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED
Any Exhibitors using stalls overnight must have approval by director in charge

ATTENTION:
Each breed must be shown separately and have at least:
1. Three exhibitors per breed
2. Twenty-four (24) animals per breed exhibited at class “A” fairs, of which Carp is one. If these qualifications are not met by the individual breeds, only half of the prize money will be paid.
3. All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly) are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.
4. Each breeding unit is allowed a maximum of 10 exhibits excluding the Breeder’s Herd and Get-of-Sire classes. All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. Note the exception of the Get-of-Sire and Breeder’s Herd classes.
5. All animals being shown in single classes must be registered at the time of entries closing, except calves, which must be properly tattooed, in two year and mature cow/calf classes. All animals must be legibly tattooed.
6. Market Heifers cannot be shown in purebred classes.

DEFINITIONS:
1. All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly) are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.
2. In each classification where the same or common interest are involved in more than one breeding operation, such operations are considered as one breeding unit. In all cases where there is any doubt that more than one breeding unit exists, the interpretation should be that only one breeding unit exists. The responsibility of proof of separation of breeding units shall rest with the exhibitor(s).

8. Female, born prior to January 1, 2009 with her own 2011, natural, tattooed, calf at foot. Female and calf shall be shown as a unit (in cow/calf classes) except that the calf may show as a single animal in the classes 9 and 10.

9. Breeder’s Herd. A group of 4 animals bred by the exhibitor, both sexes to be represented and must have been shown in the previous classes. At least one animal must be owned by the exhibitor. Limited to one entry per exhibitor.
10. Get-of-Sire. A group of 3 animals from the same sire, both sexes to be represented and they must have been shown in the previous classes. At least one animal must be owned by the exhibitor. Limited to one entry per exhibitor.

HEREFORD ONLY

The show will be open to all Junior members under the age of 21. Classes to be divided as per age groups listed.

Animals shown must be either 2011 heifer calves or 2010 heifer yearlings. All animals must be registered with the C.H.A., but need not be owned by the Junior showing.

Junior Showmanship Classes

Pee Wee – Ages 3-7
Junior – Ages 8-13
Intermediate – Ages 14-17
Senior – Ages 18-20 as of January 1st 2011

There will be no cost to enter these classes. Each participant will receive $5.00 as a reward from the Ottawa Valley Junior Hereford Association.

There will be an O.V.H.C. Junior Hereford Year End Award for the person with the highest points, as well as an award for the person who participated in the most Fairs.

The Committee will record the 1st and 2nd place winners and all participants to all the Junior Hereford Classes.

Exhibitors may enter two animals per section. The animals will be weighed the day of the show and two classes will be made accordingly. These animals must be weighed in before 12:00 noon the day of the show. Market Heifers cannot be shown in the purebred classes.
