THANKS TO THE TUBMAN FUNERAL HOMES FOR BEING THE MAJOR SPONSOR OF THE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

Ten (10) out of eighteen (18) items will constitute a complete exhibit. Open only to organized Women’s Institutes.

Exhibits must be in place by 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22nd ready for judging. Department Directors will be available on Wednesday, September 21st 6:00 –9:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 22nd before 9:00 a.m. if assistance is required.

A Grand Champion ribbon will be awarded to the Institute with the
most points. For entering each Institute will receive $6.00 plus an additional $10.00 will be awarded in memory of Mrs. T. R. Rivington, donated by her family.

The displays will be judged on presentation prior to judging. Props can be used for display only.

Prize Money: 1st $6.00 2nd $5.00 3rd $4.00
* The entry fee is 10% of the prize money retained.

THEME: “FUN ON THE FARM”

1. Loaf of Whole Wheat Bread
2. Jar of Strawberry Jam (250 ml or 500 ml)
3. Jar of Dill Pickles (250 ml or 500 ml)
4. Hand painted egg
5. Fall arrangement in a pie pumpkin
6. Collection of 3 ornamental grasses (30” max height)
7. A picnic lunch to be taken to a farmer in the field
8. Hand written poem “My FUN Life as a Farmers’ Wife. Max 100 words, will be judged on penmanship and composition
9. Collection of 3 ceramic farm animals
10. Assortment of 3 farm magazines or farm newspapers (dated prior to 1980)
11. Knitted work socks
12. Old Farmers Almanac (prior to 1970)
13. Collection of photos depicting animals on the farm
14. 4-H Ribbon
15. Childs Hand Made Toy
16. Photo of a Family gathering down on the farm
17. Kitchen Apron
18. Decorated Straw Hat, suitable to wear to the garden
