We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the Carp Agricultural Society. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for community events and rural life.

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (35/hrs per week) (may include occasional evening/weekend hours during events)

Term: July 7th – August 29th *start date is flexible to start before July 7th

About Us:

The Carp Agricultural Society is a vibrant, community-focused non-profit organization best known for organizing the annual Carp Fair – “The Best Little Fair in Canada.” Rooted in tradition and dedicated to showcasing rural life, agriculture, and community spirit, we take pride in delivering high-quality events that bring people together.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide general administrative support to the Board of Directors and General Manager.

• Answer phone calls and emails, greet visitors, and serve as a friendly first point of contact.

• Pickup mail daily, send mail

• Maintain digital and paper filing systems, databases, and office supplies.

• Help coordinate event logistics (e.g., Carp Fair), including volunteer scheduling, vendor

communication

• Update and maintain content on the Society’s website and social media platforms.

Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and basic office equipment.

• Experience with social media management and website updates (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms) is an asset.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

• Passion for agriculture, rural communities, or event planning is a plus.

• Be between 15-30 years of age

• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.

• Have a valid SIN

• International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.

Working Conditions:

• Office-based role located at the Carp Fairgrounds office.

• May require occasional evening or weekend work during event periods (e.g., Carp Fair,

community events).

• Ability to lift and move light equipment and materials when preparing for events.
